An impressive 1949-S Franklin Half Dollar certified by CAC Grading as MS64, featuring excellent eye appeal and particularly attractive toning.
The obverse displays bright silver-gray surfaces with subtle golden coloration developing around portions of the periphery. Franklin’s portrait is sharply presented with strong mint-state luster.
The reverse is the real highlight, displaying rich peripheral toning surrounding the Liberty Bell. Shades of golden-brown, amber and deeper russet frame the brighter central portion of the coin, producing excellent contrast and a very attractive original appearance.
The 1949-S is an early San Francisco issue from only the second year of the Franklin Half Dollar series, and attractive Mint State examples with distinctive natural toning are always desirable.
